

River and Water Safety Guidelines
- Awareness of the river:
Swim
at your own risk. No lifeguard on duty and no designated swim area.
- Temperature
- Depth
- Swiftness
- Swim with the current
- Never swim while intoxicated
- Do not grab, swim or float into
wooded river banks. Underwater obstructions are present.
- Know your limitations and
capabilities while in the water
- All people should swim with a
partner or supervision
- All people that do not know how to
swim should use the available life jackets or your own -- Be safe, not sorry
- All children must be supervised and
also have a life jacket to achieve safety and insurance for the child.
- While boating, floating or swimming,
be aware of the temperature of the air and the river temperature: May
cause cramping, fainting or hypothermia
- Know the float

Floating
Guidelines
- Float with a partner
- Use sun block
- Take beverages and ice
- Bring a raft and life jacket for minors and
those who cannot swim
- Wear head protection (hats, sun visors,
sunglasses)
- Bring long paints and long
sleeve shirt for the fair-skinned folks. Sunscreen may not be enough to
stop the burning
- Bring a towel and flip
flops
- Don't tie more than two rafts or inner-tubes
together
- Check the estimated time of the float
- Stay in the middle of the river - stay clear
of the riverbank
- Most important - Respect the river - Do not
litter!!
